The Last 2 Avenger Fans
I don’t live under a rock, but I have spent the last several years of my life in an office and on the road, so many movies that have already been seen by the rest of the world have not been seen by me or my husband. When you work 60 hours a week, and commute 2 hours each way, then a lot of movies pass you by. Most movies that the average person has seen, we have not seen.
For instance, my husband and I have just now in the last 2 months started watching all of the Marvel Avenger movies. Although these movies have been around for many years, we haven’t seen them.
I think we are the last 2 people left in the world that have not seen these movies. We had seen the Ironman movies, but none of the others.
We sort of ran into them by accident. We were looking for a movie to watch for free during our at-home movie date night, and Captain America was on. We recorded it so that we could watch it when we were ready.
We Were Blown Away By How Good The Movies Are
We really didn’t know just how good they were. They really suck you into the stories. The action scenes are awesome! There’s a whole lot of fighting, chasing, and blowing things up, but not a lot of blood. They are also full of humor. That’s my kind of movie. I love action movies that provide comic relief as well!
Oh, and it’s so fun that Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance in each of them. He just pops up unexpectedly in a scene. It’s a game to see where he shows up. Unfortunately, at the time of the blog post, he has passed away, so any future movies may not have him in it, but his legacy will live on for a long, long time.
And I had no idea how ridiculously funny the group from Guardians of the Galaxy was. I walk around the house now saying “I am Groot.” And I love the soundtrack! It’s full of the songs I grew up with. We saw the 2 Guardians movies out of order, but it doesn’t matter.
The Movies Don’t Have to Been Watched in Sequence
For the past several weeks prior to this blog post, we have made it a point to watch as many of the Marvel Avenger movies as we can. So far we have watched 21 of the 23 movies in the series. We have watched most of them out of order of the sequence, but we have found that doesn’t matter.
There is a common storyline that threads through them, so there might be some scenes or references to something from one of the other movies, but it doesn’t detract from the movie at all.
The movies all tie together nicely telling the story of how these superbeings work so hard to save the Earth from evil, destructive powers that want to take over the Earth and destroy it. They are the very essence of good versus evil where the good guys win.
At some point, we will watch them again in order just to see the entire storyline unfold. We haven’t seen Avengers Endgame yet, so we don’t know how it all ends.
I understand now about the stories of fans waiting outside a theatre for the opening of the newest Marvel movie and the tickets selling out. I totally get it. We still have 2 more movies to watch in the series, and I can’t wait to watch those. We’re waiting until they are available through our cable provider. It’s tough to wait, though, I tell you.
These Movies Have Some Big Name Actors
One thing that really was suprising to me about these movies is the star power they have. I mean you have Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Then there’s Tom Hiddleston playing Loki, and Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark. Not to mention Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo. These are some major stars!
For us, it’s also been fun to watch these movies about characters we knew as children. I wasn’t into comic books, but I remember the cartoons. I remember Captain America and The Mighty Thor the most. And, of course, there was The Hulk TV show in the late 70s. The new Hulk is alot larger than the Hulk played by Lou Ferigno in the 70s.
One other thing about these movies is that some of them were filmed near where I live. We’ll be watching one of the movies and a scene will show buildings from our city that we recognize. It’s pretty cool actually.
If you happen to be another person on earth who hasn’t seen these, you might want to check them out if you like action films. If I were a movie reviewer (which I am not) I would give them all 5 stars or 2 thumbs up. All of them are worth watching multiple times.
