WOMEN ARE REAL SUPERHEROES

Most everyone likes to watch superhero movies. These movies are fantasy and fiction and revolve around characters with superhuman powers that no one else has.

In real life, it is the women that are the real superheroes. They have superpowers no one even realizes like kindness, patience, compassion, organization, emotional strength, and the ability to multitask like nobody’s business. It probably never occurred to you that these were superpowers. How about problem solving? Do you see that as a superpower?

Think of all of the people you have met in your life and ask yourself just how many of them were mean, impatient, inefficient, or could only focus on one thing at a time. Those are people who need a superhero like you to bring some goodness into their life.

Why aren’t real life superhero women recognized for their abilities? I think it’s because we make it look so easy. Nobody really pays attention to us. We just breeze through getting everything done with a great attitude and a smile on our face surpassing those that struggle.

It’s a superpower to be kind to those who don’t seem to deserve it.

What’s your superpower? Are you kind to everyone? That is a superpower because there are some people who are difficult to be kind to, but you do it anyway.

Are you organized?  Do you keep everything running smoothly and on time? You might not see that as a superpower, but the unorganized, perpetually late masses would.

Are you a cool, calm head in a crisis? The person everyone turns to when life turns upside down? That’s a superpower. You are the rock in the shifting sand.

What about compassion? Do you care about others? There are many, many people in this world that care only about themselves. Compassion for others is a great superpower to have in today’s society.

Although you have a main superpower, you will discover that you have others that may not be as powerful, but they are still there. If you are kind to everyone, you are probably also compassionate and patient. Sometimes it takes patience to be kind to others.

What other superpowers do some women have that others don’t? A sense of humor? Maturity? Encouragement?

Having a baby is not only a superpower; it is a miracle.

What about the greatest superpower of all that only women have — the ability to grown a human life inside their body. Only women can do this. Have you ever stopped to think about this? If you have children, did you ever get filled with wonder over the fact that your body grew a human life? That is not only a superpower; it is a miracle. Only women have this ability.

When you are feeling down, defeated, or depressed about yourself, stop and take inventory of your superpowers. Make a list of your positive abilities. You have them; for some reason, you just never paid them any attention or gave them much thought.

You can identify them by your behavior. Did you answer the same stupid question three times with a kind smile on your face? That’s patience right there. Did you give the person in front of you in the grocery line a nickel because they were short? That’s kindness.

Volunteer work embodies kindness and compassion.

How about the volunteer work you do? That’s kindness and compassion.

There are plenty of other examples of superpowers. You may identify some that I haven’t mentioned here.

Make a list of what you did today that was out of the ordinary. It could be something small that impacted someone’s day in a positive way, or it could be something big that everyone noticed. Put it on the list.

Once you get the list things you did, assign an superpower to them — kindness, compassion, patience, organization, etc. You’ll start to see what superpowers you have.

Once you define what your superpowers are, make sure you use them to bring good into the lives of others. Having a positive impact on someone else can help them feel better and make you feel better. Remember, uplifting others uplifts you.
